How the invitation link works and how long it lasts

People ask about the link almost as often as about the price. And that makes sense: the link is what you'll send to hundreds of people, and it has to work first time for every one of them.

What it looks like

Short. Something like this:

The twelve characters after the domain aren't random. The first two encode your site, the other ten one specific guest's invitation.

That's why the link is so short. It carries no extra parameters, doesn't break when copied into a messenger, and looks tidy in a message.

What the guest sees

They open it and see the invitation straight away. No sign-up, no app, no “log in to view”.

It's an ordinary web page, so it:

• works in any country — there are no regional restrictions
• opens on an iPhone, an Android phone, a laptop or a tablet
• needs nothing installed

Personal or shared

There are two modes, and the choice affects what you get.

A personal link — every guest has their own. They see a greeting by name, and the RSVP form already has their details filled in. You know exactly who replied.

A shared link — one for everyone. Each guest types their own name. Handy when the guest list isn't final yet or you're sending it to a group chat.

The link doesn't change

This is the most important part, and the thing people worry about most.

Found a mistake in the date? The dinner time changed? Want to add photos? There's nothing to resend. The link is tied to the guest, not to a version of the site: the guest opens the same link and sees the corrected content.

That works an hour before the wedding, and after it too.

How long the site lasts

At least a year after the wedding — that's what we promise.

In practice, longer. Here's the real data as of today (cumulative, across all invitations to date):

We don't switch sites off after the wedding. Many couples keep the link as a keepsake — they share it with those who couldn't come, or simply come back to it themselves.

Worth keeping in mind

Keep the link to your account separately. Your guests' links and access to your account are different things. You'll need the account to see the answers.

Don't shorten the link with third-party services. It's short already, and shorteners sometimes break the preview and add an extra step for guests.

Test one link on yourself. Before sending, open your own test invitation on your phone — that way you'll see exactly what your guests will see.
