How to choose a wedding invitation design

Choosing a design is where almost every conversation starts. And behind the question “can we see some examples?” there's almost always a worry: will our invitation look like a template?

The short answer: a ready-made design isn't a ready-made invitation. It's a foundation that we adapt to your particular wedding.

Where to start

Not by looking for “the most beautiful one”. There are plenty of beautiful ones, and that's exactly why choosing stalls.

Start with a simpler question: what kind of wedding is it. An intimate garden wedding and an evening reception at a restaurant with a dress code need different invitations, even if both couples like the same picture.

The invitation is the first thing guests learn about your celebration. It sets expectations: what to wear, how formal it will be, what to expect. A design that contradicts the celebration itself is confusing.

The catalogue is made of live sites

There are currently 18 designs in the catalogue. Each one can be opened in full: it isn't a preview image but a real example site with all its blocks, animations and RSVP form.

Open them on your phone. More than nine out of ten guests will open your invitation that way, so judging a design on a big screen means judging the wrong thing.

What other couples choose

From our data across 834 sites (all orders to date):

Almost half of all couples choose Bloom. That doesn't mean it's the best — it means it's the most versatile: calm, works well with any photos and doesn't dictate the style of the celebration.

If you want your invitation to feel less familiar, look further down the list. Muse and Promise are more expressive, Minimalistic is more restrained.

What gets adapted to you

This is the main difference between “a template” and our work.

We choose the colours in every order. It isn't a paid extra or an exception — we always adapt the palette to your wedding. The same design in powder tones and in deep emerald looks completely different.

We remove and add blocks. No dress code — no dress code block. Need a separate section about transport to the venue — we'll add it. The structure adapts to your celebration, not the other way round.

Fonts — in some cases. If you have a specific vision, send us the name or an example. It doesn't always work, but often it does.

If you don't have a clear vision

That's normal — more common than not, in fact. Many couples write exactly that: “we don't have a particular design in mind, could we choose something together?”

Then tell a manager about the celebration: where it will be, how many guests, what atmosphere, whether you have a palette. That's enough to suggest two or three options instead of eighteen.

A ready-made design is not a design from scratch

To be clear, so there's no disappointment: adapting a ready-made design doesn't mean drawing one from scratch. In this work we take a ready foundation and bring it to your wedding through colour, structure and content.

When to choose

The earlier, the calmer. The median time from order to finished site is a little over a day, but that's assuming the design has been chosen and the photos are ready.

Choosing usually takes the longest. So if the wedding is a month away, start with the catalogue today, not a week before you send the invitations.
